Richter Supports Amendment 1

Voting for amendment is supported

To the Editor,

As a homeowner and a local business owner I can truly support the tax amendment on the Jan. 29 ballot that can help out so many people. This proposed amendment would double exemptions on primary homes to $50,000. It would put a 10 percent assessment cap on other properties, such as businesses, rentals and second homes.

The amendment would also let homeowners take at least part of the benefits they get from the existing 3 percent assessment cap on primary homes when they move. And it would give businesses a $25,000 exemption for equipment and other property.

This last Wednesday Gov. Charlie Crist urged voters to approve the proposed amendment that would cap property taxes while providing cuts for most homeowners, saying the change will boost the state’s real estate market and local economies.

“It’s about giving people the freedom to move, the freedom to go to another home,” Crist said of homeowners who feel trapped in their homes because of high property taxes. “You know what that will do to the real estate market in Florida? I tell you, it will ignite it.”

Tallahassee is Broken!

Tallahassee is broken! As your State House Representative Candidate for District 72, I will bring the government back to the people. At this critical time in Florida's history, we cannot afford to keep sending the same people back to Tallahassee over and over again.

The voters need a candidate who represents conservative values, builds bipartisan support and signals change for a restless electorate. I am your candidate for District 72. I am not a politician, rather a public servant.

My platform is simple .... Leadership on a different scale.

As a Marine, Richter asks everyone to join the Surge of Support for our troops. Visit one or more these organizations and send your support to our military men and women who are making such tremendous sacrifices for the safety of all Americans.

America Supports You "America Supports You," a nationwide program launched by the Department of Defense, recognizes citizens' support for our military men and women and communicates that support to members of our Armed Forces at home and abroad. America Supports You spotlights what Americans are doing all across the land, encourages others to join the team, and allows all to tell their stories by giving voice and visibility to their efforts.

The Fisher House The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.

Operation Shoebox Operation Shoebox was founded in 2003 in an effort to send support, snacks and much needed personal care items to our troops deployed outside of the USA and we encourage citizens to support their fighting men and women deployed overseas in these dangerous times.

Operation Thank You Operation Thank You is an outreach ministry of the So Help Me God Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that inspires faith, promotes patriotism, and supports our troops by providing inspirational and patriotic resources and programs that honor God, country, servicemembers, veterans, and military families. We are a proud member of America Supports You, a nationwide program launched by the Department of Defense to recognize citizens' support of our military men and women at home and abroad.

Packages from Home Packages From Home provides a way for you to Support Our Troops by donating goods for gift packages to remind troops that Americans support them; donating funds to defray mailing costs; or by volunteering your time to wrap and mail gift packages to deployed troops serving overseas.

A Soldier's Wish List A Soldier's Wish List (ASWL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to support our troops who are serving overseas. We are involved with troopers deployed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Kosovo, South Korea and Qatar. Our goal is to fulfill the wishes of our troops to the best of our abilities. This is our small way of letting our brave troopers know that we care about them and appreciate their sacrifices.

USO Care Packages The United Service Organizations, Inc. (USO) is enlisting support of individuals around the world to support the troops through Operation USO Care Package. These packages are being delivered to members of the U.S. Armed Forces deployed around the world to show them they have not been forgotten and to provide a "touch of home." Many people have called and emailed with their suggestions for organizations also worthy of your support. We encourage you to visit them as well and help show your support for our Armed Forces.

Freedom Alliance The Mission of Freedom Alliance is to advance the American heritage of freedom by honoring and encouraging military service, defending the sovereignty of the United States and promoting a strong national defense.

Homefront America Homefront America, Inc., is an "all volunteer" 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization comprised of military service members, veterans, their spouses, and families who understand the hardships and challenges of our military families that are left behind when a service member is away serving our country.

Our goal is to alleviate the financial burden placed on the family so that their focus can be on their loved one's recovery.
